[...] invisual is an interesting design concept: a tactile screen cover bundled with accompanying software which together form a mobile computing solution for the visually impaired. The silicone screen cover displays tactile symbols and icons, and the software places buttons behind the surface features. Nice photos at the link. [...]

Hi,

I have recently sustained severe damage to my eyes in an accident and have been an iphone user since it first launched.
After getting the fatal news, even more fatal too me as i worked as a 3d artist/manager in a production studio before the incident, i have been fumbling with the unlock slider the phone for a while to find solutions to my dark complex.
Besides finding a few tricks to which i can use the phone for dialing (i've stuck a braille dot sticker to where an app called ispeak is located). i've been having thoughts of using in the end a nokia or other phone which includes a screen reader. But the feel of the iphone on my palm is so familiar and dear to me, i've continued to use my home made contraption and neglected the texting thing altogether.
Now that i've found this concept on the web, ii'd love to test it out and if it does in fact enter production, please let me know as i think is a great step forward for the blind community at large which probably simpers and fumbles with the unlock slider in unison.

Hoping that i will find this cool design innovation at my apple store soon@!

With a blind wife and several blind friends, I can't decide how stupid this is, since you would have to have talking software to know what what going on underneath and a sighted person picking it up couldn't help, not being able to see the screen.
This web site doesn't help the sighted either with the comments being printed in tiny gray print on black so as to be almost unreadable.
